In this special almost-but-not-quite-close-enough-yet-to-Christmas episode of PreviewCast, we welcome Mac Geek Adam Christianson of the MacCast to the PreviewCast, where snow becomes a lethal weapon. Okay, maybe I’m over dramatizing a great episode. Whatever, we had a good time.
Apple Legal came sneaking up behind Larry and Douglas this past week, but hey, it’s a good thing! So Douglas says, at least. But a recent Apple Legal statement said that Apple isn’t tightening its grip on podcasters at all…maybe someone should poke Leo Laporte. James Kim and family got lost in the middle of freezing Oregon, and although James’ family made it, he didn’t. Our deepest sympathies go to their family and friends. And, Douglas’ latest app pick for decorating your Mac for the holidays…MacLampsX. Finally, we get to hear from Adam all about the MacCast…it’s origins, it’s philosophies, and it’s financial situation. Hey, hosting a popular podcast isn’t cheap! And, Adam shares a review he’s working on for the MacCast website with us BEFORE it goes live on there! I guess the “Preview” in PreviewCast had to have some meaning… And, don’t forget to see Santa go doo-wop in his White Christmas.
All of this and plenty more in our 16th episode of PreviewCast!

Crap….loose the rotary phone gag…..and count how many times you say “er” or “um!” It’s not only hard to listen too but also agri-noying!
You are to the English language what the Stuka was to Krackow!
Chris
When I say “rotary phone gag”, I mean one that has happened a few times during the episodes, and one that we try to avoid. We all cringe when that phone rings, but fact of the matter is that it’s a low-budget podcast (correction: a no-budget podcast) recorded from home and we do the best we can. If I could take that phone off, I could, but I can’t for various reasons.
As for the “err” or “umm”, I’ll work on that.
That would be The Global Geek Podcast
Hope you get your legal sorted. Good luck with your show.
I just noticed the comment that I actually had not read. I actually edit our whole show and take out the umms and errrs. Very time consuming but very worth it. It works out at about: for each minute of podcast there is about 2-3 minutes of editing to get it live. If you did this sort of post then you could edit out the phone. Either that or take it off the hook, or throw a big blanket over it.
I actually spend about 10-15 hours a week researching, recording and producing. Plus the other stuff like this, following stuff up and marketing the show. Again good luck and I wish you the best.
On the James Kim story, they made a wrong turn and tried to find a place to turn around but they were were on a one way road that went on for a LONG time and eventually ran the gas out of their car.
Great eppy though.
Your “celeb” guests are really fun to listen to lately.
Yes, we could do a lot more editing, but the fact is that this is done completely on my own time as a busy student in high school with a family, so I can only do what I have time to do. I’d love to be able to take out some of the stuff on there, if only I had time.
“Thank you, Robert…for telling me about MacLampsX.”
this is so bad at times it becomes funny.
