The Legal Geniuses Strike Again!

Well, by now, you’ve seen that Larry got a little telegram today. Here’s what I thought of when I saw that…

(From the Joy of Tech comic)

As Larry said, it was inevitable. Too bad. I liked the thing we had because, you know, it’s the “Preview Podcast”, or PreviewCast. :P But then, as Larry describe it, we’ve been served. Okay, so that link was kinda random. Too bad.

But yes, never fear! This podcast, err, no! Wait! You didn’t see that! No, that wasn’t there! This p-cast isn’t going anywhere! We’ve been given a full one-twelfth of a year to replace the image, so we’ll get that done. Larry has already set to work on his Photochopping skills to create another brand spanking new image. Maybe I can convince him to stick some deep-fried pickle hearts into the new one! :) :)

Okay, maybe not. :( It was worth a try.

Anyway, I don’t know why, but I am actually excited to get a letter from Apple Legal. True, they hate us for using their images that they made (You know, we used them because we thought they looked so beautiful that we wanted to be represented by their excellent artwork), but they NOTICED US! What does that mean? WE’RE POPULAR! We’re being noticed by more and more people, which is absolutely ridiculous, but who cares! Just look at episode 14! It’s received 13 diggs on digg.com, and it has been our most-downloaded episode ever! (I think it’s cause everyone wanted to see if Larry’s iPod shuffle really did survive the washer and dryer. Yes, it really did.)

Plus, I want to thank Apple Legal for this letter, because it has done some good things for us. First of all, Larry and I had it in the back of our minds that we should do something lightly special and inconspicuous for the holidays, but we weren’t sure what. We’ve got it now…new album artwork! Thanks for helping us on that one, Apple Legal! Even better, since we’re no longer “borrowing” other people’s images, we can now get firm and angry in the occasion that someone decides to steal our Larry-Head image–after all, Larry doesn’t want his face endorsing just ANYTHING.

Err, wait…I licensed Larry’s face under a Creative Commons license. Okay, never mind.

And the best thing of all that we get…bragging rights. I can’t wait to go all around school tomorrow and tell everyone that I got a cease and desist letter from Apple Legal. Everyone will be crowding around me wanting to hear more. :) :) :)

So thanks, Apple Legal. We’ve put up some temp artwork up to keep you happy (and out of our hair…I just washed it). Yeppers. CENSORED AT REQUEST OF APPLE LEGAL. The plain and honest truth.

And to you, our listeners, we will have some new album artwork coming out when we come up with some ideas. Actually, if you have any ideas for our new album artwork here, post a comment and we’ll consider it. If we use your idea, we’ll mention you on a future episode of PreviewCast and thank you (or propose for you, do your laundry, make buttered p-words for your dinner, stand on your head, whatever).

And, Episode 15 of the PreviewCast p-cast will hopefully be out tomorrow morning, just in time for your to sync it to your Apple Music Player. :)
